Amidst the budget cuts going on in San Francisco, Kezar Track and Stadium (which falls under the Parks&Rec Dept.) will officially close to the public on May 1st and be sold privately.

Voice your opinion at the community meeting on March 2nd at the First Unitarian Universalist Society Church on 1187 Franklin at Geary Street.

**Well, here's something uplifting...an AWESOME blog informing you when the Kezar will be closed during the month: http://kezarstadiumschedule.blogspot.com/ It's about time! Better late than never. I have added this to the column of links on this blog.

UPDATE: February/March 2009 Routes

What is adidas Urban Run SF?

Attempting to describe what we do every Monday does no justice. I think this video pretty much sums things up except we’re not on bikes, we don’t run in the middle of the road, and we don’t have a cheesy soundtrack (until now):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnnMUpDgVXI . Much of the places you see in the video are where we usually run.

We meet at the adidas Sport Performance Store on Mondays @ 6PM with the running start @ 6:30PM (unless otherwise noted). Our group is very diverse, open to all ages and all abilities. You are always greeted with food and refreshments at the end of your run. A generous discount is given to all runners and special promotions are offered throughout the year, including our monthly adidas shoe raffle.

We also have a Facebook page that allows you to connect with other runners so that you can train more effectively during other days of the week. Long runs on the weekend and track workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays have been options.

BTW, our Bay to Breakers hill workout training runs will resume in April. Be sure to submit your registration early to get your corral assignment. If you haven’t qualified for your seeded or sub-seeded position, race the Emerald Nuts Across the Bay 12K on March 15, 2009. Link to registration:

adidas Urban Run SF - Community Dinner - February 9, 2009

To all who missed last night's dinner, you really missed out (myself included)! Here are a few pictures as evidence. Thanks to Mercedes Acosta for the wonderful pictures below and many, many, many thanks to Sean Lee for organizing the post-run dinner! For the remaining routes of this month, go here: February_09_Running_Routes

A good incentive for running that challenging route!

Mercedes Acosta and her action figure.

Just guys hanging out.

Chikara (right) ran a 3:08 50K on Saturday, ran a 35:41 10K on Sunday, still made it out for the Monday evening Urban Run....and finds time to eat junk food (it's a hobby)! What's your excuse?

Our faithful Urban Runners!

Kate's dangerous (but awesome) arsenal of cupcakes. I wonder what else is under her sleeves...

Oh yeah, there was beer too...not endorsed by adidas :)
